In an effort to bring their Exclusive Faces range to a larger audience, HypeForType approached graphic designer Ryan Atkinson to produce their first magazine release Typographic Revolt. The brief was to produce a 16 page A2 magazine with a twist. Instead of following the traditional convention, Ryan designed a quick read through A2 magazine which also doubles up as a set of 4 Exclusive Faces posters. Each page folds out to create a double sided poster perfect for your studio or home wall space. Typographic Revolt is printed as a limited litho run on 90gsm wood free paper, giving everything a premium newspaper feel which absorbs the inks to create a beautiful desaturated look and feel. Typographic Revolt. is available now through Amazon.

A lovely looking little trailer for a new film on leading Canadian designer, educator and painter Burton Kramer by Greg Durrell of A Brief History Of. Also worth mentioning there is a lovely retrospective book available on a half century of identity work by Kramer.

Back in November we posted that Man vs Machine were working on a full rebrand of the now iconic More4 identity. This generated a lot of debate, with Greig getting “the feeling this is going to move like a flip clock”.

How right he was – earlier today MvM unveiled the new identity featuring “Live-action idents see the brand break out into the real world in the form of mechanical ‘flippers’”.

Initial reaction to the logo received varied results, the majority of people reserving their judgement until they had seen it move. And move it does. I for one, think it’s a breath of fresh air, lovely to see the identity break out into the the real world.

What do you think?

In what could be considered as happy marriage between the academic and the practical, a diploma thesis for the Department of Industrial Design at the University of Technology in Brno (Czech Republic) and the manufacturing excellence of the Czech bicycle company, Superior, has resulted in the working prototype for an e-bike. Superior was looking out for a sporty, carbon fiber bike but they settled for a bike made of duralumin that oozes sportiness. The designer, Vojtěch Sojka, has made it look something like a cross between a BMX bike and the Specialized Stumpjumper. But this bike holds a lot more than meets the eye and is definitely worthy a close second examination.
